The 2018 Mazda CX-5 is a crossover designed to provide families with an enjoyable driving experience. Part of that experience stems from the impressive number of safety features available in this stylish modelof the CX-5.

Rear Cross Traffic Alert

The Rear Cross Traffic Alert system alerts drivers when another vehicle is approaching from either side while the CX-5 is reversing out of a parking space. Drivers can see the alerts on the backup monitor as well as in the side mirrors.

Smart City Brake Support

Smart City Brake Support detects obstacles ahead of the CX-5. If the system detects a potential for a collision, it will ready the brakes for a quicker stop. If the driver fails to hit the brakes, the system will take action.

Smart Brake Support is similar to the city version but operates at higher speeds. When traveling at speeds above 10 mph, this system detects potential collisions and automatically hit the brakes if it determines that an impact is unavoidable.

Advanced Blind Spot Monitoring

The Advanced Blind Spot Monitoring system uses radar sensors to detect other vehicles in the CX-5's blind spots and warn drivers if they try to change lanes. The system also warns drivers of vehicles that are approaching quickly and will soon enter a blind spot.

Adaptive Front-Lighting

The Adaptive Front-Lighting system turns the headlights with the steering wheel to provide drivers with a better view around curves. High Beam Control automatically switches between high and low beams depending on whether or not there's oncoming traffic.

Lane Departure Warning

The Lane Departure Warning system warns drivers if the CX-5 is about to leave its lane markers at speeds higher than 37 mph. Lane Keep Assist takes corrective action to prevent the crossover from leaving its lane.

With so many safety systems to rely on, it's no wonder families love the 2018 Mazda CX-5. To learn more about the CX-5's safety technology, stop by Sierra Mazda for a test drive.
